NSW VET Review and Skills Plan
The NSW VET Review was a comprehensive examination of the state’s vocation education and training (VET) system initiated by the NSW Government to address skills shortages and improve the VET sector’s quality and efficiency. The review, completed in 2024, provided recommendations focused on rebuilding TAFE NSW, improving student outcomes and equity, strengthening the VET system and better aligning training with future skills needs.
The NSW Skills Plan 2024-28: Building Skills and Shaping Success is an action-based response to the NSW VET Review. It focuses on addressing skills shortages and transforming the VET system.
The Skills Plan prioritises funding to critical skills areas including care and support, construction, net zero and digital in alignment with the National Skills Agreement; strengthens TAFE NSW and establishes a new regional planning model. It also aims to improve student outcomes with clearer pathways for school students and young pepole into jobs and careers, build on industry engagement and grow the VET workforce.
