New mandatory training for NSW Health placements

NSW Health Mandatory Training Standing Committee has endorsed a new module as mandatory for all students attending placements in NSW Health facilities.

This is: Security Awareness – All Staff; course code: 194502198

This module supports the safety of staff, patients, volunteers and students in NSW Health facilities. Completing this module provides individuals with information on their role in maintaining security and provides general security awareness to help ensure safe student placements.

The module will be available to students in the My Health Learning (MHL) system from 1 April 2022 and will be mandatory from then. The module only needs to be completed once and the module completion will be recorded in ClinConnect.

As per the usual mandatory training requirements for student placements, NSW Health Services should try to integrate this training as far as possible into local orientation practices. Students must complete mandatory modules within 30 days of placement commencement, if not before. Students already on placement should be encouraged to complete the modules within 30 days.

Please note: Students only have access to the MHL system 13 days before their placement is due to commence in a NSW Health facility. Access is terminated at the end of each placement. Student access to the MHL system cannot be permitted at any other times.

If students have previously completed the module in HETI Moodle, they will not need to repeat it. Instead, they can take their evidence of completion to their placement Local Health District for recording in My Health Learning.
